The SMMHS LMC budget and rationale:
At SMMHS we take our Mission and Vision Statements seriously. We ARE committed to equipping students to positively impacting their world through their knowledge and competent use of 21st Century skill-sets. Specifically, we want our graduates to be responsible digital citizens, independent learners, and skilled information seekers. As the one common place where they will come during their 7 years here, the plan of the LMC is to provide them with the means to meet these benchmarks. In close communication with the administration, PTSA, MEF, and school community, the budget of the media center will be used to support the curriculum, advance the information literacy skills of our school community, and create opportunity for the enjoyment and personal growth of our students. Along with spending, we try to find ways to bring in resources. The LMC initiated our first-ever school store, an annual book drive which brings in over 1,500 books per year, participates in book fairs, and takes advantage of generous donations by individuals and businesses which allow us to greatly increase our book selection and languages resources.
